Our specialist team of Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVAs) support adults aged 16 and over in the Trafford area who are identified as being at high or increased risk of harm due to domestic abuse.

TDAS IDVAs provide professional, trauma-informed support that prioritises safety, empowerment, and advocacy. From crisis intervention to long-term planning, they walk alongside victims throughout their journey — ensuring they are heard, protected, and informed every step of the way.

Working within a multi-agency framework, our IDVAs collaborate with police, social care, health services, and legal professionals to coordinate a robust response. The safety of the victim – and any children involved – is always central to their work.

How we can help

An IDVA will:

  • Act as a consistent and trusted point of contact for the victim
  • Address immediate safety concerns and develop personalised safety plans
  • Support victims to navigate both the civil and criminal justice systems
  • Advocate on the victim’s behalf with external agencies
  • Facilitate access to housing, health, legal and financial support
  • Work to reduce risk and prevent further harm
