Domestic abuse affects many in the LGBTQ+ community and we recognise the additional barriers some people may face in seeking help.

Examples of LGBTQ+-specific abuse may include:

  • Threats to “out” a person’s gender identity or sexual orientation
  • Isolation from queer spaces or support networks
  • Withholding medication or gender-affirming healthcare
  • Ridicule based on identity
  • Homophobic, transphobic or biphobic abuse

You are not alone, abuse is never your fault.

You deserve to feel safe, respected, and accepted for who you are.

We understand that reaching out can feel difficult, especially if you have had negative experiences or feel unsure about how you will be treated.

We recognise these challenges and are committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for everyone.

How we can support you:

  • Provide inclusive, respectful and non-judgemental support
  • Listen to and respect your identity and experiences
  • Work at your pace, without pressure
  • Prioritise your safety and confidentiality

If you think you are experiencing domestic abuse, contact us for support and talk to a domestic abuse advisor at TDAS.
