“Multiple disadvantage” refers to people experiencing overlapping forms of exclusion – for example:

  • Mental ill-health
  • Substance misuse
  • Homelessness or rough sleeping
  • Involvement with the criminal justice system
  • Poor physical health, learning difficulties or care-experienced backgrounds

These factors don’t “cause” abuse – but they make it harder to escape, access support, or be believed. Survivors in this group are more likely to be:

  • Misunderstood or labelled “chaotic”
  • Passed between services without joined-up care
  • Re-traumatised by rigid systems

We work closely with:

  • Social care teams

  • Housing providers
  • Criminal justice partners

If you think you are experiencing domestic abuse, contact us for support and talk to a domestic abuse advisor at TDAS.
