You may be experiencing domestic abuse if any of the following apply:

  • You’re afraid of your partner or a family member
  • You’re constantly criticised, belittled or made to feel worthless
  • You’re prevented from seeing friends or family
  • You’re forced to account for your time or spending
  • You’re being physically or sexually assaulted
  • You’ve been threatened that your pets will be harmed
  • You’re made to feel like everything is your fault
  • You’re told how to dress, where to go, or who you can see

What you can do next

If you recognise any of these experiences, you are not alone. It can be difficult to know what to do, and you may feel unsure about your next steps.

You don’t have to make any immediate decisions. You might choose to talk to someone you trust, keep a record of what is happening, or seek advice from a support service. Taking small, safe steps at your own pace is okay.

If you feel in immediate danger, call 999.

If you think you are experiencing domestic abuse, contact us for support and talk to a domestic abuse advisor at TDAS.
