"Bringing Warmth, Safety & Hope: How Your Support Transforms Lives This Winter"
By Samantha Fisher, CEO, Trafford Domestic Abuse Services (TDAS)
As the winter months approach, many families prepare for warmth and joy, but for those experiencing domestic abuse, this season can be filled with uncertainty and fear. At Trafford Domestic Abuse Services (TDAS), we are committed to providing the critical support that families need during these difficult times, and our Warmth, Safety & Hope Campaign is a key part of that effort.
The focus of this campaign is to raise funds to continue delivering the essential services that children and young people exposed to domestic abuse desperately need. At TDAS, we offer both intervention and prevention services to children and young people who have been affected by domestic abuse, helping them not only cope with their experiences but also prevent future unhealthy relationships.
We provide a wide range of services, including one-to-one and group-based programs that offer emotional support and education around domestic abuse and its impacts. Our Children and Family Workers offer crucial emotional and practical support, welcoming families into our refuge accommodation and helping them resettle into their new communities. This includes sourcing school or nursery places, organising family sessions, and delivering parenting programs to support families in healing together.
We believe in a holistic approach, and that’s why we also provide tailored support through educational programs designed to prevent young people from entering abusive relationships in the future. Additionally, during school holidays, our team organises fun trips and activities to help children and young people build positive memories and develop healthy coping mechanisms. Families residing with us even have the opportunity to access art therapy sessions, which can provide a powerful outlet for processing difficult emotions.
Your donations to our Warmth, Safety & Hope Campaign will directly fund these essential services, ensuring that we can continue to offer tailored, expert support for children and young people living in refuge accommodation. With your help, we can provide a safe environment for families to recover and rebuild.
The Warmth, Safety & Hope Campaign is deeply aligned with the mission of ending gender-based violence, particularly during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. This global movement calls for action to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls, and our campaign directly supports those affected by domestic abuse, many of whom are women and children. By raising funds to provide specialised support and education for young survivors, we are not only addressing the immediate needs of those impacted but also contributing to the long-term goal of breaking the cycle of abuse. Every donation during this campaign is a step toward creating a safer, more just world where violence is no longer tolerated.
While gifts under the tree bring joy, the greatest gift you can offer this season is a future of safety, warmth, and hope for families escaping domestic abuse. Your donations enable us to continue providing the specialist services that are so essential for these young survivors.
Thank you to everyone who has already supported the campaign—you are making a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. If you haven’t yet had the chance, there’s still time to donate and help us continue this important work. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us bring warmth, safety, and hope to families this winter.
Warm regards,Samantha FisherCEO, Trafford Domestic Abuse Services (TDAS)
